Trumpet Vine

Image
Trumpet Vine   The trumpet vine on one of our ash trees is now in bloom. While difficult to control, it's beautiful and attracts hummingbirds.   Here's a little painting in a found frame.

Rockford Summer

Image
Rockford Summer For several years Wilmington's 4th of July fireworks were in Rockford Park.  We had neighbors' parties  afterward.  Here's a rendering on scratchboard.           Scratchboard is black ink over a white ground.  Scratch off the black and the white lines appear,   I have tinted some of the white ground with watercolor,

"Canyon Greeting"

Image
Canyon Greeting An adventurous girl on the edge of the Grand Canyon.  Displayed across the bottom are petroglyphs found in the Canyon region. Kokopelli, the trickster flute player is prominent.  I signed the painting with an RMW monogram in petroglyph style in the lower left. Canyon Greeting was a study in color composition.  Through the magic of digital manipulation, I formed a version simulating a paint-by-the-numbers painting.

Morning Fog

Image
Morning Fog Sometimes my morning walk is in the fog.   Here's a foggy morning in Wilmington on Greenhill Avenue...    And a foggy in Havre de Grace, approaching the Marquis de Lafeyette...

Portrait of Mary

Portrait of Mary Of the paintings I've done of Mary, this is one of my favorites.  I later did a smaller version for a thrift store found frame in a cameo style.

The Bayou Lindens

Image
The Bayou Lindens The Bayou, on the bay-front in Havre de Grace,  is a condominium originally built as a hotel.  The grounds have several very large Linden trees (American Basswood).  Here's a view I painted that includes the Bayou and shows two large Lindens on the waterside of the building.     These two trees have been a favored perch for a pair of bald eagles in recent years making them a popular photography subject.  A few weeks ago the trees disappeared, perhaps victims of the purple lanternfly infestation.    Their identifying marker is still there.    Here's another sign with some history of the Bayou.

ΑΓΙΑ ΤΡΙΑΣ Holy Trinity: Revisited

Image
ΑΓΙΑ ΤΡΙΑ Σ   Holy Trinity: Revisited   Last year we saw Holy Trinity, a painting of Wilmington's Greek Orthodox church: https://rmw-ramblings.blogspot.com/2021/03/blog-post.html  A lunch yesterday at their annual Greek Festival suggested a revisit to this painting.  The scroll with the ancient Greek dancers and musicians on the left, and the contemporary Greek folk dancers on the right, is a major feature of the painting.  Here are some details from the layout drawing of the dancers...
