Sydney's Service

 Sydney's Service

A few days before the 1960 election I was a volunteer usher at at a John F. Kennedy speech and rally at San Francisco's Cow Palace convention center. In his speech Kennedy announced his plan for the Peace Corps.  At the end of the event I salvaged two Kennedy campaign posters adorning the walls.  Years later our granddaughter Sydney served three years in service in the Peace Corps.  When she returned I gave her one of the posters with a note recording its provenance. Earlier this week I did a painting imagining Sydney with the framed poster behind her.  The logo on her laptop is my signature monogram.
