Painted yesterday, Kids on the Seawall shows two towel-wrapped children watching a paddleboarder (A cousin?) Acrylic on canvasboard, 7x5 in.

    12 March  2021 ART, BOOKS, LIFE, & MORE   I've emailed, texted, Facebooked, and else about my art, photography, activities, books, collections, and more to many of you, but now I thought I should consolidate all of this in a blog.  Here's the start.  I expect to update about once a week. Winter is finally closing up.  As one last winter activity I did a painting for a neighbor.  For a Christmas card for 2020, I painted a scene on 18th St reminiscing about neighborhood snow parties when it seemed like we would be snowed out from work in the morning.  The painting was in gouache on paper. The walking figures were done separately and combined via Photoshop.  Our house in red brick is at the top of the hill on the left.       A neighbor on the other side of 18th St asked about a painting of that side.  I painted this as a gift, acrylic on canvasboard.   Warmer weather posts to come!

 Alaina's Book of Animals Another Handmade Book The books I have made as gifts, one-off or just a few copies range from mostly pictures to all text.  A mostly pictures one-off is a book I printed on Tyvek for Alaina's second birthday,   Alaina's Book of GrGrandad's Animals  is simply an assortment of some of my animal themed paintings with identifying labels. .

Artists of W 18th Street: Margo Mavrantonis Johnson

  Artists of W 18th Street Margo Mavrantonis Johnson Margo Mavrantonis Johnson is a W 18th St artist who is still active, although no longer living on our block.  Margo is retired from her art teaching career but continues to paint professionally.  She paints a variety of subjects, but my favorites are the structures and streetscapes from her frequent European trips, especially to her second home, Greece.  We treasure her Christmas cards which depict a peripatetic snowman who has visited New Castle, Tuscany and Greece, but has yet to experience a meltdown.       Margo has a studio and gallery representation in the Opera House, 304 Delaware  Street in old New Castle, Delaware, and a web site at https://margojohnson.artspan.com/exhibits.html.  There is an extensive gallery of her work there.
